The Memorial Day holiday weekend is one of the busiest of the season in Las Vegas. Starting Tuesday, May 31 the 53rd annual World Series of Poker begins at a new location on the famed Las Vegas Strip at Paris and Bally’s Las Vegas.
I was on location Thursday for the press conference and media tour of Paris and Bally’s for the 2022 WSOP. Virtual attendees were able to chime in and listen to the press conference, which followed the tour by WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart and Vice President Jack Effel. Those two provided insight into the 2022 WSOP, and were joined at the press conference by Paris Las Vegas Senior Vice President and General Manager Jason Gregorec.
Longtime WSOP commentators Lone McEachern and Norman Chad were also part of the press conference. The duo also provided a video through Poker News on what to expect and how to navigate your way around Paris and Bally’s for the 2022 World Series of Poker.
From how to register, where the poker tournaments, satellites and cash games are played, to the parking situation and dining options, the property tour video provides a first look into what to expect at the 2022 World Series of Poker.
Historic Change with WSOP Moved to Las Vegas Strip
The World Series of Poker was held at the Rio Hotel & Casino just West of the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road since 2004. Previously, the WSOP was held in downtown Las Vegas at the Horseshoe, which will be the new brand yet this year replacing Bally’s.
“This year is particularly historic for the WSOP with its move to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and debut in the best facilities we’ve ever had,” said Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We’re ready to welcome players from all over the world to our housewarming party at Bally’s, soon-to-be Horseshoe, and Paris. The schedule is jam-packed with first-class events and we expect this to be the biggest and most anticipated WSOP yet.”
There are no mask or vaccination requirements, but the WSOP will follow CDC guidelines during the event.
Tournaments run from May 31 through July 20. A total of 88 live bracelet events are scheduled, and 29 online bracelet events for players in Nevada, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and now Michigan.
“Being here on the Las Vegas Strip is a key milestone for this event, and for poker overall. We’re finally a headliner,” Ty Stewart added. “The growth of this event has been nothing short of astounding, and we’re preparing for what we absolutely expect to be the biggest World Series of Poker event of all time.”
